Spooktacular Investing Times
It is Halloween, so with an intended pun it must be said: spooktacular times in markets and the economy continue.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is simultaneously spooky and spectacular. Nvidia, this week, reached a new milestone surpassing all other US companies with a $5 trillion market valuation. Nvidia’s market cap is now larger than the largest semiconductor companies AMD, Arm Holdings, ASML, Broadcom, Intel, Lam Research, Micron Technology, Qualcomm and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing combined.*
From “AI” to Fresh Brewed Coffee
Simply thinking about coffee can get a person’s morning moving in a positive direction. In this case, AI nearly brewed the coffee.
Last week’s TGIF 2 Minutes featured compelling details about the use of AI, or Artificial Intelligence, by individuals and “normal” people. The majority of reader feedback was positive – and led a number of folks to try an AI assistant for the first time! A handful of perceptive readers expressed lingering hesitation about the potential dangers of AI in general. Understandable.
“AI” Is Changing It All
Call it Tech Summer. Last week’s topic was cryptocurrency; this week’s is AI, or Artificial Intelligence. AI is driving markets and businesses with unstoppable speed. Speaking of speed, today’s note will be a short one!
The original title of today’s TGIF 2 Minutes was, “AI is and will continue to change everything“. But that title was too long. A quick request to an AI assistant for a shorter title offered: “AI is changing it all.” Hence, today’s title. PS. the remainder of today’s note is written by yours truly.

This edition of TGIF 2 Minutes took an extra week to write (and may take an extra cup of coffee to read). Admittedly, because the topic of AI, or Artificial Intelligence, is so complex and fast-moving as nearly anything on our planet. Add the white-hot nature of ChatGPT, the AI system owned by OpenAI, which is a private company recently thrust to the front-pages of nearly every major world news source. Is your head spinning? Read on.
AI, or artificial intelligence, is huge. Sitting down recently with the leader of a significant and complex global organization, it was jaw-dropping to learn the attention being paid to the value and potential of artificial intelligence. Whether in the corporate, educational, media, or government realm AI is being analyzed, tested and used. Its use will only continue to grow.
